Thailand sets its sights on solar energy

Bouygues Energies & Services and Bouygues Thai have built four solar farms with a capacity of 18MW in Ayutthaya, 100km from Bangkok, as part of a joint venture with local business McTric. This challenging project was carried out on behalf of Prime Road Group.

We provided the client with a tailor-made service.

The works, which were technically and physically challenging, involved:

  • driving 8,405 concrete piles
  • installing 1,319 mounts to accommodate 201,720 solar panels
  • unwinding 162km of cables
  • mobilising 500 employees to work on the project simultaneously and deliver on time

These are the first farms to be built by the Bouygues group using thin film solar cell technology, which is particularly well suited to hot climates.

With Bouygues Bâtiment International we continue to work together on ever more ambitious projects, especially in Asia where the company built a 41MW solar farm in Yaita, Japan.
